Looking for Families to be featured in MediaCorp Channel 8 Programme

MediaCorp Channel 8 is producing an 8-episode Chinese infotainment series "Celebrations". This programme, to be televised in Jan/Feb 2008, aims at introducing the customs and traditions practiced by different races in celebrations of various occasions. With most episodes focusing on weddings, some episodes will be dedicated to celebrating the golden years, birth and (hopefully) cultural celebration by the new citizens of Singapore. This series will have a strong human interest, bringing out the necessity of family bonding and the beauty of cultural diversity.

MediaCorp would like to feature families of the following profiles:

  1. A family celebrating an elderly person's birthday (60 years old and above). A Mandarin-speaking family is preferred, and they celebrate in a relatively traditional way (serving longevity noodles and holding a feast with auspicious dishes etc).
  2. An elderly couple celebrating their wedding anniversary. Again a Mandarin-speaking couple is preferred. It would be lovely for this couple to share with us their love stories, how they maintain a harmonious marriage over all these years, etc.
  3. An interracial wedding between a Singaporean and a foreigner. The wedding should have an exotic flavour, showcasing the traditions of the foreign country in question.
  4. Any foreign family cultural practice in Singapore - mostly birth, matrimonial and adulthood celebrations. Do you know of any new citizens/ PRs/ foreigners who might be able for us to reach out to their respective communities?
  5. A modern / adventure wedding such as “Underwater Wedding”, as couple may get sponsorship to Maldives for the filming.
  6. A traditional Chinese Wedding where the old traditions, rituals and customs will be strictly followed by the newly wed during the wedding ceremony.

The case family will be interviewed and assessed for suitability first. Thereafter, a schedule will be fixed for filming. As for timeline wise, MediaCorp will accommodate their timing as long as the events occur from now till Dec 2007, as filming has to be completed by end of this year.
